Are we now just beginning to see the effects of the introduction of last October’s bag tax?
In today’s press we heard about the closure of another long standing British bag manufacturer, Nelson Packaging in Lancashire. According to Director, Michael Flynn, this new legislation and “aggressive overseas competition” are to blame. Whilst we ourselves are wary of the tax changes, corresponding customer perceptions and decreasing demand for carrier bags, we manufacture such a diverse range of products, including tax friendly options – paper bags, bags for life and mailing bags, and so far, remain unaffected.
